Position title: Entry/Junior Level Guidance and Controls Engineer

Position Description

Work with a small team whose main focus is analysis of missile performance, guidance and control systems, and developing models for special analysis tasks. Work with software engineers to develop models for 3-DOF/6-DOF simulation tools.  Assist in the design of guidance and control algorithms when documentation is limited, and when the actual system design is unknown.

To this end a successful hire will be able to:

  • Communicate effectively with software engineers to determine software requirements
  • Analyze the flight performance of missile systems using 3-DOF and 6-DOF simulation models
  • Communicate analysis results to senior engineers, Delta management and the customer.
  • Learn how the rest of the weapon system interacts/interfaces with the missile/interceptor and apply that knowledge to the missile/interceptor.

Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to Run Missile Simulations (3-DOF, 6-DOF) and Interpret Results
  • Ability to Design Fundamental Control Laws (P+I), Lead-Lag, etc.
  • Familiarity with Classical and State Space Methods

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience developing physics based mathematical models of flight systems, subsystems, or components.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience with Kalman Filters a plus
  • Familiarity with terminal guidance laws and autopilot design a plus.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, or other similar scientific field. Master's Degree preferred.

Security Clearance Requirements: Ability to obtain a security clearance required. Current in-place clearance a plus.

Experience Requirements: 0-5 years of experience

Anticipated Salary Range: Commensurate with experience

Start Date: Immediately
